Calling all inventors, adventurers, airship pirates, lady mechanics and gentleman scientists; come enjoy Victorian dances in an inventive atmosphere. Do not miss the premiere of the world’s first Steampunk Contradance, specially choreographed to Airship Pirates by Abney Park.

Our intrepid musicians will be playing music from the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Dances will include contras, quadrilles and reels. We will give a brief walk-through of each set dance before having everyone join in. Simply walking in time to the music with a few calls for sliding steps or steps in waltz time make these dances easily learned by beginners. The band will also play elegant waltzes and lively polkas where you may guide your lovely partner about the floor.

We expect that the attendees will be dazzling in their steampunk accouterments. Please refrain from bringing ray guns, grappling hooks, high explosives, or live animal experiments onto the ballroom floor.
