Sign Shop

What you did?
Organized old inventory, backed new and old inventory, made last-minute signs, put up or brought to Volunteer's signs that no one claimed.
What went right?
The help; everyone who came went above and beyond and were completely wonderful.
What went wrong?
Me (Catelyn) coming in last minute. People from other areas kept needing things that I didn't know where they were or that they existed at all, and as a result things were slowed down and some people were inconvenienced.
What should be done differently next year?
There should definitely be only one person for pre-pre-con prep and pre- and at-con work. The Sign Shop area head needs to know and handle everything from start to finish to better understand what they have and what everyone wants.
What sort of schedule/timeline did you use?
Sign Shop was open Thursday 3-7, Friday 10-5, Saturday and Sunday 10-12, and Monday 10-4.
Are there any changes you'd make to the schedule for next year?
Yes. There needs to be more time to organize the Blue Box of Doom contents before the con starts.
Vendors you used?
I used none.
Experiments to try next year?
Getting something other than the Blue Box of Doom for storing signs. Some signs do not survive it, little ones are impossible to reach when they fall to the bottom of it, and something that's easier to use when organizing would be awesome.
Any comments about the rest of the con (other divisions, hotel, ...)?
Sign Shop really, really needs people to ask for both new AND old stuff when they need it. There were some areas that had requested no signs, and then showed up asking for their stuff, thinking that all their old stuff would automatically be ready for them.
I'd also like to thank everyone who had patience for Sign Shop workers when we were harried trying to get everyone's stuff done all at the same time.
I'd also LOVE feedback on the post-it stuff we used this year instead of the cling stuff from last year. Ed: sending email to sadi_kaeleer@yahoo.com may be appropriate here.
